Brian Ching reacts to 2010 World Cup draw

Following the 2010 World Cup draw, Brian Ching was asked his thoughts.

Ching in USA uniform“Well I didn’t plan on watching the World Cup draw today but I couldn’t pull myself away once I turned it on. We are going to start off with an extremely hard game against England. They are an opponent that we have seen a few times over the past few years, but the results haven’t been great. They have many players that we are really familiar with because of all of the English Premier League matches that are on TV here in the States. We also have a few Americans who play in England, so we know what they are capable of. This should be a great way for us to start the tournament and there will be a lot of interest in the match.”

“At this point, I don’t know too much about Algeria and Slovenia. These are two teams that I am sure we will be learning a lot about in the next six months. I know this though. There are never any easy games when you get to the World Cup.”

“If you look at the past two World Cup draws, you would say that this looks like our best chance to advance. However, every country is looking to bring its best game, so it is going to be up to us to bring ours as well.”

I was just happy we didn’t get the group of death. I know it will tough but I just gotta believe we’ll get the job done!! And I guess because I am just really excited I planned to watch the whole thing today. For me it was just pretty fun to watch and to start making my chart on how I think each group will go. Last Cup I did pretty decent. This one will be harder because it seems like every country is fielding stronger teams now.
