Dynamo ties Chivas USA 1-1 in Superliga tournament
Houston and Chivas USA tied 1-1 in the second match for each team in group play. With the tie, the Dynamo now have four points and are in a favorable position to advance to the semifinals of the 2010 Superliga. Chivas USA has one point (one draw and one loss).
Lovel Palmer scored just six minutes into the match giving the Dynamo a 1-0 lead. Jesus Padilla tied the match off of a corner kick with 19 minutes to play. The Dynamo’s Joseph Ngwenya and Cam Weaver both had excellent opportunities in the final 10 minutes to give Houston the win, but both missed narrowly with shots from close range.
Brian Ching did not play in the match as he played a full 90 minutes in the Dynamo’s 2-1 win over Pachuca last Wednesday. Earlier in the day, Chng was named to the 2010 MLS All-Star team. It is the sixth time in his career he has been selected for the All-Star Game.
The Dynamo return to action this Wednesday when it hosts Puebla in the final match of group play. The top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals of the 2010 Superliga competition.
