The Columbus Crew used their man advantage effectively late in the match to defeat the Houston Dynamo 3-0.

The Crew opened the scoring in the 34th minute when Dynamo keeper Tally Hall misplayed a ball at the edge of the box. Emilio Renteria pounced on loose ball and tapped it into an empty net. With 18 minutes to play, Houston defender Bobby Boswell was ejected after earning a second yellow card. Coupled with the Dynamo pressing forward in an attempt to score a tying goal, the defense was venerable and allowed goals by Andy Iro and Léandre Griffit in the game’s final eight minutes.

The Dynamo, 5-8-4, return to MLS action this Saturday when it hosts New York Red Bulls. It will be the first MLS game for the newest Red Bull Thierry Henry, the French international.

Brian Ching, who played the full 90 minutes against Columbus, will participate in the MLS All-Star Game this Wednesday in Houston’s Reliant Stadium against Manchester United. His Dynamo teammate Brad Davis was also selected to the team.
