The third “House that Ching Built” is dedicated

When Shakon Jenkins entered the Partner Family Homeownership Program, little did she know that she and her family would be in for the high energy partnership that comes with The House That Ching Built! The Houston Dash and Dynamo sports franchises kicked it into high gear on the very first day of the build. From framing the house to raising the roof, volunteers from the Houston Dash staff and players came out to work with Shakon and her family. Later, Shakon would visit the site to watch the progress; anticipating the time when her son and daughter would have rooms of their own; and she would no longer use the couch as her bed.
This week, she comes closer to her vision when the high energy continues as volunteers come out once again to “Dynamize” the garage and dedicate the home. One notable volunteer is Dynamo Goalkeeper Michael Lisch who has been working on a mural of BBVA Compass Stadium (home of the Dynamo) inside the garage.
Houston Dash Managing Director, Brian Ching, partnered for the third time with Houston Habitat for Humanity. Ching fundraised $85,000 to build a “green” house for the family this year.
